Adverb of Degree in Japanese

Sentence Pattern : N1 は N2 が (Adverb of degree) わかります.
The object of a transitive verb is marked with を. However, objects of the verbs あります and わかります are marked with が.
Examples
1. わたし は にほんご が よく わかります。
I understand Japanese Language well。

2. わたし は にほんご が だいたい わかります。
I almost understand Japanese Language。

3. わたし は にほんご が すこし わかります。
I understand Japanese Language a little。

4. わたし は にほんご が あまり わかりません。
I don't understand Japanese Language not so much。

5. わたし は にほんご が ぜんぜん わかりません。
I don't understand Japanese Language not at all。
Sentence Pattern : N1 は N2 が (Adverb of Amount) あります
Examples
1. わたし は くるま が たくさん あります。
I have a lot of cars。

2. わたし は うち が すこし あります。
I have a few house。

わたし は おかね が ぜんぜん ありません。
3. I don't have money at all。
Sentence Pattern : N1 は N2 が Adjective です.
Such adjectives as すき です, きらい です, じょうす です and へた です require objects, and these are marked with , too. The verb and adjectives whose objects are marked with が are those kinds that describe preference, ability, possession and the like.
Examples
1. わたし は やさい が すき です。
I like vegetables。

2. わたし は すし が きらい です。
I hate/dislike sushi。

3. わたし は ダンス が じょうす です。
I am good at dancing。

4. わたし は バスケット ボ-ル が へた です。
I am poor at basketball。
Sentence Pattern :  どんな N
Other than the usage you learned in Lesson 8, どんな is also used to ask the listener to name one from a group which the noun after どんな な denotes.
Examples
1. どんな スポ-ツ が すき ですか.
...サッカ- が すき です.
What sports do you like?
...I like soccer.
Sentence Pattern :  S1 から S2
から connects two sentences together to denote a causal relationship. S1 is the reason for S2.
Examples
1. じかん が ありません から, しんぶん を よみません.
Because I don’t have time. I don’t read the newspaper.

You can also state S2 first and add the reason after it.
Example
1. まいあさ, しんぶん を よみますか.
...いいえ, よみません. じかん が ありません から.
Do you read a newspaper every morning?
...No, I don’t. Because I have a no time.
Sentence Pattern :  どうして
The interrogative どうしてis used to ask a reason. The answer needs から at the end.
Examples
1. どうして あさ しんぶん を よみませんか.
...じかん が ありません から.
Why don’t you read a newspaper in the morning?
...because I don’t have time.

The question どうして ですか is also used to ask the reason for what the other person has said.
Examples
1. きょう は はやく かえります.
I’ll go home early today.
どうして ですか?
Why?
...こども の たんじょうび です から
...Because today’s my child’s birthday.
